Careers/Pathways and Choices for learners

There are many different pathways for students to take once you leave School. The sheer amount of choice can often be mind boggling. We support our students with relevant Independent advice to find an outcome suited to their needs.

Learner pathwaysLearner pathways

We have an internal pathway available to all of our students (on application), which has proved extremely successful over the years and has seen students supported in employment in the construction industry,   by way of our Traineeship and Apprenticeship Programme. We have a large local employer network that sees our successful learners supported on paid apprenticeships within a short time of leaving school.

We work with the local YPSS careers service and each learner is allocated a careers advisor who will visit in school throughout the year in order to help identify a pathway for learners when they leave school.

For learners that struggle with the transition into further education we work with them to support them through the process.

For Year 11's we make sure we give our learners additional support and throughout the year they take part in mock interviews and work through accredited employability qualifications.

As a School we look to focus our careers advice and tailor it towards the 'Gatsby Benchmarks'

The eight Gatsby benchmarks of Good Career Guidance

1. A stable careers programme
2. Learning from career and labour market information
3. Addressing the needs of each pupil
4. Linking curriculum learning to careers
