We are almost at the end of another somewhat turbulent year thanks to the ongoing and ever changing COVID pandemic. We would like to thank you all for your continued support throughout the Autumn term. It has been difficult locally and nationally but because of your great support, robust internal procedures and the amazing attendance of the learners, COVID has not impacted the Orchard massively this term. Thank you, please keep up your fantastic support whilst we continue to battle this pandemic.
At the Orchard school we have the ability and aspiration to bring our curriculum to life. The amazing tutors, supports and management team have managed to create some brilliant opportunities for learners to access some fantastic educational visits this term. They range from visiting the seals at Donna Nook, escape rooms to the Time Trap Museum and the pantomime! You can see from the photos that we are able to capture some magical moments each and every week.
In the Autumn term we have continued to support our local charities and national initiatives as everyone at the Orchard is passionate about making at difference in the community and world we live in. Congratulations to all of our learners and staff for raising hundreds of pounds this term.
A special mention and well done goes to our learning support Laura who has, with her PLP class made Christmas hampers for elderly members of our community who may be spending Christmas alone this year. Her group have sacrificed some of their own PLP budget to add some luxury items to the hampers and staff and parents have donated too. As a result, they have five beautiful hampers ready to go to those in need. Well done to all involved!

A message from the Principal
Well, Christmas is nearly upon us and as a school we are pleased that we have been able to operate as “normally” as is possible during the pandemic and have remained largely untouched by the virus. Orchard staff have put their heart and soul into making the return to school in Autumn a warm, welcoming and supported experience and I’d like to say a massive thank you to our amazing staff team, who I’m sure you will agree, really go the extra mile.
We are winding down the term with “Orchard Christmas day” on the 15th December with the Christmas raffle, quizzes, a festive lunch and of course a visit from our very own Santa(s)! Photos to follow in the next newsletter. It just goes to say thank you for your continued support, and from all the team here we wish you a very merry Christmas break whatever your plans and look forward to welcoming everyone back on January 5th.
