Learners from Key Stage 4 at The Orchard Special Educational Needs School, Grimsby, enjoyed a memorable educational visit to Eden Camp Modern History Museum this term.
Set within the grounds of an original World War II prisoner of war camp, the museum offered a unique and immersive learning experience, allowing learners to step back in time and explore life during wartime Britain. Learners engaged enthusiastically with the exhibits, reading, interacting, and discussing what they discovered throughout the day.
The visit formed part of the school’s commitment to bringing learning to life through enriching, real-world experiences that build understanding, empathy, and curiosity.
Steve Broderick, Principal of The Orchard School, said:
“Our trip to Eden Camp was a brilliant experience for everyone involved. The learners were fascinated by the exhibits and showed real interest in the stories of people who lived through the war. It’s always inspiring to see how much they take from these hands-on experiences. They make learning meaningful, memorable, and fun.”
