Learners at The Orchard School in Grimsby have raised a record-breaking £2,190 for this year’s annual Orchard’s Mission Christmas appeal, the highest total the school has ever achieved.
To raise funds, learners took part in a 5km sponsored walk around GTFC’s Blundell Park and also spread festive cheer by Christmas carolling at their local Tesco supermarket. Staff praised the learners for their enthusiasm, resilience and commitment across both events.
The funds raised will be used to support local children at risk of not receiving a Christmas present, as well as providing essential donations to local food banks. Learners and staff have already been out shopping, with items set to be donated to Women’s Aid, the Salvation Army, We Are One Foundation and Grimsby Food Kitchen.
Steven Broderick, Principal of The Orchard School, said:
“I am incredibly proud of our learners and the compassion they have shown through this year’s Mission Christmas. Raising £2,190 is a remarkable achievement and will make a genuine difference to families and organisations in our local community. Thank you to our learners, parents and carers for supporting us so wholeheartedly once again.”
The Orchard School continues to place community, kindness and social responsibility at the heart of its work, with Mission Christmas remaining a key part of the school’s annual calendar.
