Learners at The Orchard School Celebrate British Science Week

As part of The Orchard School’s ongoing Orchard in the Community initiative, learners recently took part in a range of engaging activities to celebrate British Science Week.

Throughout the week, learners explored themes of curiosity and sustainability through a variety of hands-on, practical experiences. Some learners took part in creative construction activities, designing and building nests and dinosaur habitats, encouraging them to think about environments, materials and the needs of living things.

Other learners focused on developing their ideas through the British Science Week poster competition, where they created thoughtful and imaginative posters responding to the question, “What makes a good childhood?” This activity encouraged reflection, creativity and a deeper understanding of wellbeing and development.

The range of activities allowed learners to engage with scientific thinking in different ways, building confidence, curiosity and problem-solving skills while making meaningful links to the world around them.

Steven Broderick, Principal at The Orchard School, said:

“British Science Week provides a fantastic opportunity for our learners to explore, question and think creatively. It has been wonderful to see such enthusiasm across the school, with learners engaging in both practical and reflective activities. Experiences like these are key to developing curiosity, confidence and a deeper understanding of the world we live in.”

The week was a great success, highlighting The Orchard School’s commitment to enriching learning experiences and fostering a love of discovery both in and beyond the classroom.
